Stephanie Zak Jerome, House of Representatives, Rutland-9

STEPHANIE ZAK JEROME has wide experience in public and private sector organizations. She has been a member of the House of Representatives 2019-present and serves as the vice-chair of the Committee on Commerce and Economic Development.

Stephanie is honored to be a current member of the University of Vermont Board of Trustees (Agricultural Board, Secretary), Vermont Economic Progress Council, Otter Valley Tech Ed Advisory Council, Cancer Advisory Board-UVM Medical Center. and Brandon Revolving Loan Committee. While in the legislature, she is also active with the Women’s, Rural and Climate Solution Caucus groups. She has held prominent roles in the Brandon Planning Commission, Brandon Area Chamber of Commerce, Brandon Economic Development Committee, UVM Alumni Council (Washington DC and Vermont), Vermont Arts Council, and Friends of Otter Valley Music. She has also volunteered with Neshobe School, Otter Valley High School, BKL nordic ski club, and the Four Winds environmental education program.

Following graduate school, Stephanie was awarded a Presidential Management Fellowship in Washington DC. She served as a Policy Analyst at the Office of Space Sciences at NASA Headquarters in Washington DC. After returning to Vermont, Stephanie and her husband, Brian Jerome PhD, founded and managed Visual Learning Systems in Brandon, a core-curricular K-12 science education publishing company.

Stephanie was born in Burlington and raised in Mendon. Stephanie graduated from Barstow School, Rutland High School, and continued her education with a BA in History from the University of Vermont and received a Masters in Public Policy and Administration from University of Massachusetts, Amherst. Stephanie is a 5th generation Vermonter. Stephanie and Brian raised their three children in Brandon, where they have lived for over 25 years.

Why I Am Running: I want a Vermont that works for all of us, a place where our communities and families can thrive. Brandon residents should have the opportunity to earn a livable wage, live in a clean environment, receive high-quality affordable healthcare, get a great education, and retire with security.  Every Vermonter should get a fair shot, contribute their fair share, and play by the same set of rules.
