Mary Howard, State Representative, Rutland-6

Representative Mary Howard is serving her 8th year in the Vermont House of Representatives where she is fighting for a more affordable Vermont. Whether it is affordable housing or childcare, Mary puts people before politics.

Mary is a strong supporter of law enforcement, she worked for more than a decade in the Rutland County State’s Attorneys office where she became familiar with the workings of state government, the judiciary and the role of the prosecutor in keeping our community safe.
After more than 50 years of living in Rutland County, Mary is familiar with her community, she worked for many years at Central Vermont Public Service in the Human Resources and Safety Departments as well as at Graybar Electric where she got to know many of our local contractors.

Mary stands up for our veterans. She was married to late JM Howard, for 46 years. JM was a successful local businessman and retired as a captain in the United States Marine Corps, passing away from a rare condition that likely resulted from his exposure to Agent Orange during his service in Vietnam.

She is an active member of St Peter’s Church where she serves on the Activities Committee. Mary serves on the Board of Directors of the Bennington Rutland Opportunity Council, BROC.
